The Japanese are really getting fast up to speed on engagement marketing, and using the mobile phone for it. The latest example came to us via our friend Tim Harrap, who found it at Japan Marketing News. It is a service called Ez My Styling, on mobile phones on the KDDI network in Japan. Users send the picture of their face to the service, and then can play around with various hairstyles to select which hairstyle best suits them. Then - of course, this is engagement marketing and mobile allows us the ways to convert interst into action - the service offers the recommendation of where is the nearest hairdresser who does that particular hairstyle - and of course when you show up at the hairdresser, you show the picture of which style you want. Brilliant. Using mobile to engage with customers, and to drive traffic to your stores.
